01About

Thirty-five years of shaping cities, campuses and the organisations that live inside them.

Stephen Lewis is an architect and urbanist. After three decades practising from Amsterdam — beginning at Broekbakema and LIAG in the Netherlands — he is now based in Prince Albert, South Africa, where his work continues to treat architecture, urbanism, real estate and organisational design as one continuous conversation.

Over the last two decades he has led transformation, regeneration and development projects across Europe, Russia and Africa — from the VDNKh exhibition grounds in Moscow and a tech campus in Tver, to the regeneration of Kaloleni Estate in Nairobi and Wingfield Air Force Base in Cape Town.

He works at the intersection of spatial design, business strategy and cultural identity — through his own practice Urbanicity, and in partnership with DASUDA, BrighterNet and Stichting Placemakers.

Steve is a true survivor: he listens carefully, is creative, sensitive, but pretty tough when needed. Hire him before it is too late — he will save your projects.

Stephen has the rare ability to combine creative flair and lateral thinking with commercial reality and a technical understanding of real estate. This combination is at the heart of TCN, as is Stephen.
